SETTING LIMITS

The words SETTING LIMITS conjure up different thoughts in people’s minds and they are not always pleasant.  For many, limits were not set in a very thoughtful way.  Limits were often set when adults were at the end of their rope, and their patience had run thin.

Hand in Hand has developed an approach to setting limits that is based in the understanding of the child’s need for connection.

We will explore what causes a child’s behavior to go off-track and how we can set limits with respect, warmth and kindness, and provide connection in order to bring the child back on track.

Uriela Ben-Yaacov is the parent of 3 adult children and also a grandparent. She has more than 10 years experience teaching preschool. Uriela has been active with Hand in Hand organization for 17 years, and has led parent classes, support groups and workshops. Uriela is deeply committed to using listening tools, which foster respect for the important work that parents do, and help build lasting connections between parents and their children.
